Daily Bite Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 2, 2026
1. Who We Are
Daily Bite ("Daily Bite," "we," "us," or "our") is an iOS recipe app operated by Successfitness, a sole proprietorship based in Saskatchewan, Canada (brand: Success Recipes / Success Fitness). We are the data controller responsible for your information.
You can reach us about privacy at any time: dailybiteapp12@gmail.com
This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, how long we keep it, and how you can access or delete it. We do not sell or share your personal information, and we run no advertising and no third-party tracking.
2. What Daily Bite Does
Daily Bite lets you create an account, browse a curated recipe library, save and organize recipes into cookbooks, set basic meal-planning and grocery preferences, import a recipe by pasting a link, and (soon) subscribe to premium features. We collect only what these features need.
3. Information We Collect
Account information
- Email address: when you sign up with email and password, or when you use Sign in with Apple (including an Apple private-relay address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com, which we treat as your real email and never block or alter).
- Password: only when you choose email/password sign-up. Your password is handled solely by Google Firebase Authentication. It is never written to our database and we cannot see it.
- Apple sign-in identifiers: when you use Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable Apple user identifier and an identity token, which we exchange for a secure login session. We do not store the raw Apple token in the app.
- First name: your first name (from Sign in with Apple's first authorization, or as you enter it), used to personalize the app.
Profile and onboarding answers (you provide these during setup; used to personalize recipes): your goals, how many recipes you save per week, how many recipes you actually cook, where you save recipes today, how often you order takeout, who you cook for, dietary preferences, your usual dinner time, allergies you enter, and pantry items you list.
We treat dietary preferences and allergies as sensitive lifestyle information. We use them only to filter and personalize recipe suggestions inside the app. Daily Bite does not provide allergy-safety, medical, or nutritional health guarantees, and you should not rely on it for medical decisions.
Recipes and cookbooks you create or import
- A link (URL) you paste to import a recipe. When you paste a link, the link and the public content of that web page are sent to our recipe-import service (a Google Cloud Function) and to Google's Gemini AI to extract the recipe. See Section 6 ("AI Recipe Import").
- The parsed recipe (title, description, ingredients, steps, nutrition, cook time, servings, image link, source) and the source URL, which we save to your account so you can return to them.
- Cookbooks you create (their names and timestamps) to organize your saved recipes.
Subscription and purchase information (when subscriptions launch). If you subscribe, your purchase is processed by Apple In-App Purchase, and your subscription status is managed by RevenueCat. We receive your subscription/entitlement status and basic device/transaction information. We never receive or store your credit-card or payment-card details; Apple handles payment.
Information stored only on your device. We keep small convenience caches on your device (using local app storage) so the app loads quickly: a copy of your profile basics, the titles of your imported recipes, your cookbook names, and a snapshot of the curated recipe library. These stay on your device, are cleared when you sign out (for the profile cache), and are not separate transfers of your data.
Limited technical/log data via our backend. Our backend provider, Google Firebase, processes standard technical information such as your IP address and device/user-agent for security and to deliver the service (for example, Firebase Authentication retains login IP addresses for a short period). We do not use this for advertising.
What we do NOT collect
We want to be explicit. Daily Bite does not collect or access:
- Location of any kind (no GPS, no coarse location).
- Health or HealthKit data (the "allergies" field is a self-typed onboarding answer, not health-app data).
- Your contacts.
- Your camera, photos, or media library (photo/camera-based import options are not active; the only working import is pasting a link).
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA), ad networks, or any advertising.
- Third-party analytics or tracking SDKs of any kind.
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we show no App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do no such tracking.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information only to: create and secure your account and log you in; personalize recipe recommendations and filtering using your onboarding answers; save, display, and organize the recipes and cookbooks you create or import; import a recipe from a link you paste (via Google's Gemini AI); provide and manage subscriptions (when available), including restoring purchases; and maintain security, prevent abuse, and operate the service. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling for third parties, or sale.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR/UK GDPR)
For users in the EU/UK, we rely on: performance of a contract (creating your account, syncing and saving your recipes/cookbooks, importing a recipe you asked to import, and providing subscriptions); legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and preventing abuse); and consent where legally required, which you can withdraw at any time (Section 10).
6. Third-Party Services (Sub-Processors) and AI Recipe Import
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Daily Bite. Each processes your data only to provide its service to us, under its own privacy policy and data-processing terms. We require that any third party with whom we share user data provides the same or equal protection of that data as stated in this policy and as required by Apple's App Store guidelines.
| Provider | What it does for Daily Bite | What it processes | Its policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd.) | Our core backend: authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), file storage, and serverless functions | Account email, first name, Apple user identifier, your onboarding answers, your saved/imported recipes and cookbooks, and technical data such as IP address | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google Gemini API (Google LLC) | AI recipe import: parses the recipe from a link you paste | The URL you paste and the public content of that web page (sent server-side only) | ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms |
| Apple (Apple Inc.) | Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchase | Your Apple sign-in identifier and email (or relay email); for purchases, your payment is processed by Apple and we receive only your subscription status | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) | Manages subscriptions and purchases (when subscriptions launch) | Subscription/transaction status, device/technical information, and your in-app user identifier | revenuecat.com/privacy |
AI Recipe Import: details. When you paste a link to import a recipe, our backend fetches the public web page, extracts its text and recipe data, and sends that content to Google's Gemini AI to convert it into a structured recipe. We use the paid Gemini API tier, under which Google does not use your prompts or the responses to train or improve its models, and retains data only for a limited period for abuse and policy enforcement. The fetched page content is not stored by Daily Bite; we save only the resulting recipe and the source link to your account. Please do not paste links that contain sensitive personal information, since their content is sent to Google for processing.
7. Data Sharing: We Do Not Sell or Share
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding 12 months. We disclose your information only to the service providers listed in Section 6 so they can operate the app for us, or where required by law.
8. International Data Transfers
Daily Bite's providers (Google Firebase, Google Gemini API, RevenueCat) process and store data on infrastructure in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EU/UK/Canada, our providers rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as the EU-U.S. / Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Frameworks and/or Standard Contractual Clauses. By using Daily Bite you understand your information may be processed in these locations.
9. Data Retention and Deletion
- Account and profile data, saved recipes, and cookbooks: kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- The web-page content sent for AI import: not stored by us; processed transiently and retained only briefly by Google for safety/abuse purposes.
- Technical/auth log data (e.g., IP): retained by Firebase for a short period (typically a few weeks).
- Purchase records: retained by Apple and RevenueCat per their policies, and as we are required to keep for tax and accounting obligations.
- On-device caches: cleared when you sign out (profile cache) or uninstall the app.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account and its associated personal data directly in the app: go to Profile / Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your Daily Bite account, your profile and onboarding answers, and your saved recipes and cookbooks. Deletion is processed immediately; residual copies in routine backups are purged on our normal backup cycle. This option is available to all users regardless of location, with no phone call or support request required. If you have trouble, email dailybiteapp12@gmail.com.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you have some or all of these rights:
GDPR/UK GDPR (EU/UK): access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and the right to withdraw consent.
CCPA/CPRA (California): the right to know/access, delete, and correct your personal information; to opt out of sale or sharing (note: we do not sell or share); to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
PIPEDA (Canada): the right to meaningful consent, to access and correct your information, and to direct a complaint to us as the responsible business.
To exercise any right, use the in-app Delete Account option or email dailybiteapp12@gmail.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by your local law. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada).
11. Security
We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest on Google's infrastructure. Access to your account data is restricted by our database security rules so that only you (or our server-side administrative functions) can read or write your personal records. Your password is handled only by Firebase Authentication and is never stored by us.
12. Children's Privacy
Daily Bite is intended for users 13 and older (16 in parts of the EU) and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes their child has provided us information can contact dailybiteapp12@gmail.com to request deletion.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves or the law changes. We will post the updated version with a new effective date, and for significant changes we will provide notice in the app. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
