How Saving Works and Copyright

Effective date: October 15, 2026 (last updated October 19, 2026: saves shared to Daily Discover)

Daily Bite is a personal recipe organizer. When you import a recipe, we structure it for your own private use. When you import it from a link, we also keep a link back to the source; recipes you import from a photo or pasted text have no source link. We do not crawl the web, collect recipes in bulk, or republish anyone's work.

How importing a recipe works

You choose a single recipe and paste or share its link. Our importer reads that one public post or page and pulls out the practical parts you cook from: the ingredient list and the steps. We save that structured recipe, along with the original source link, to your private account so you can find it again. You can also import a recipe from a photo you take or choose, or from recipe text you paste. Those imports have no source link, so none is saved with them.

We do this one recipe at a time, only for a page you chose. Daily Bite does not run bots, crawl sites, or gather recipes in bulk.

What we structure, and what we leave with the creator

A recipe's ingredient list and method are the functional parts you need in the kitchen. Those are what Daily Bite structures for your personal use.

We deliberately do not copy the written story and prose around a creator's recipe. Those are creative parts that belong to them. So that a recipe imported from a link keeps its picture, we try to keep a copy of the post's or page's public cover image as that recipe's thumbnail, for the person who saved it, with a link back to the original. If that copy fails, the recipe keeps a link to the original image instead, which loads from the source site. The source link takes you straight back to the creator's page for the full experience. For Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook posts, that cover image can also appear on a share page when someone shares the recipe (see "What sharing shows" below).

Your saved recipes are private

Recipes you import are saved to your own account for your personal, non-commercial use, like notes in a private cookbook. They are not posted to a public feed and are not shared with other users, unless you share one yourself (see "What sharing shows" below).

What sharing shows

This is how sharing works in current versions of Daily Bite. Older versions of the app shared recipes differently, so keep Daily Bite updated to share this way.

Share links. When you share a recipe you imported from a link (an Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook post, or a web page), or a recipe from our library, from its recipe page or after marking it as cooked, Daily Bite makes a share link (trydailybite.com/r/ followed by a random code) and sends it with the recipe's title and a short line from Daily Bite. Anyone who has the link can open its page. A share page shows only:

A share page never shows the ingredients, the steps, notes, ratings, the link to the original post or page, or who shared it. Share pages are not listed anywhere on our site, and we ask search engines not to index them.

Opening a shared recipe in Daily Bite. When someone opens a share link in the Daily Bite app, a recipe that was imported from a link is imported again from the original post or page, as that person's own import (it counts toward their free imports). Their app receives the original link, cleaned of tracking tags and sharing codes, so their copy keeps its link back to the creator too. A library recipe opens from our library, which is included with Daily Bite Pro.

When Daily Bite shares text instead. Recipes imported from a photo or pasted text have no original post, and recipes imported from a shared document or file (such as Google Docs, Google Drive, Dropbox, or Notion) or from a Facebook link made with Facebook's own Share button (facebook.com/share/...) are never turned into a share page. For these, and whenever a link can't be made (for example when you're signed out or offline), sharing sends the recipe's title, a short line saying it was saved with Daily Bite, and a link to get the app, never the ingredients, the steps, the photo, or the link to the original post or page. Sharing today's pick from the Daily Bite tab works this way too: a library recipe sends an image card with its photo, title, and cook time (some apps keep only the image), and a recipe of your own sends that short text.

How long share links last. A share page is a snapshot from the moment the recipe was shared. It keeps working if the recipe is later renamed or deleted, and sharing the same recipe again updates the page and keeps the same link. Share links, their pages, and their copied images are removed when the person who shared them deletes their account. To remove a single link sooner, or to report one, email dailybiteapp12@gmail.com with the link. A removed page can take a few minutes to disappear everywhere, and messaging apps may keep the preview they already showed.

Saves shared to Daily Discover. From iPhone app version 1.0.7, someone with a public profile can choose to show a recipe they saved to other Daily Bite users, with their username. A shared save shows only the recipe's title, the creator's credit (their public handle, linked to their profile, or for a web page the site's name, linked to its home page) and, for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook posts, the post's cover image, under the same rule as share pages. Recipes from websites show Daily Bite's own artwork. It never shows the ingredients, the steps, notes, ratings, or the link to the original post or page. To show the post's image, Daily Bite keeps a public copy of it while the save is shared. The copy is deleted when the save is made private or deleted, when it is hidden or removed after reports, when the account that shared it is banned or deleted, or when the creator asks us to take it down (see "Respecting creators" below).

Our own recipe library

The curated recipes and photographs built into Daily Bite are our own original work, created by the team behind Success Recipes. They are provided for your personal use in the app and may not be scraped, republished, or redistributed in bulk.

Respecting creators

We built Daily Bite for home cooks and the creators they learn from. Inside the app, every recipe imported from a link keeps a link back to where it came from, so the person who saved it can always go back to the creator's page. Recipes imported from a photo or pasted text have no source link to keep. Share pages credit the creator and link to their profile; they never show the link to the original post, which reaches only someone who opens the shared recipe in Daily Bite (see "What sharing shows" above).

If you are a creator, you can ask us to take down share pages and saves shared to Daily Discover that credit you, and to stop new ones from being made, for one post or for all of them. Email dailybiteapp12@gmail.com with your profile or the post, or, in the app, report a shared save from its menu and choose "This is my recipe or photo". If you would prefer your content not be importable, we want to hear from you too.
